The Margherita di Savoia Salt Pans wetland is a veritable paradise for birdwatchers.
Although they are widely distributed throughout the world, flamingos are found in greater numbers in the western sector of the Mediterranean Sea Basin.
Flamingo colonies are very numerous.
The flamingos' nest is made using mud and is usually concave in shape and 30-40 cm high. Both male and female help to build the nest in shallow water by collecting the mud with their long beaks.
